What we do
MariFact has quickly established itself as a valuable source of professional tools for asset tracking and historical data analysis in the maritime field.

Working with a blend of public and private data sources, including our own ever expanding chain of terrestrial AIS (t-AIS) receiving stations (blended where needed with satellite AIS (s-AIS) data sources), we are able to locate, monitor and assess in various ways the world’s sea-going vessels wherever they may be.

Using custom algorithms and high-end hardware to power these, we are able to provide a range of data outputs either specifically for the vessel(s) concerned, or blended together with other contextual information, such as global weather and navigational safety information, and so on.

Why we do it
Our creation and growth is not by chance, here at Marifact we could see an increasing lack of useful, independent and still affordable (or free) tool sets available for maritime, transport and other interested people and professionals to access and use, so we decided to do something about it and built our own, and so Marifact was born.

Get involved
While Marifact’s rapidly evolving toolsets are designed to be as intuitive and helpful as we can possibly make them, we know we can do better, and actively invite your feedback to assist us with our mission to be the best available. Your opinions really do matter to us, and as we continue along Marifact’s evolution and improvement, your feedback can help us to make Marifact ever more into what YOU really need it to be. Your next suggestion for us may be our next feature for you.

If you are keen to be even more actively involved, please check out the details on methods for sharing AIS data with us using your own existing equipment, or with a receiver we can provide you, as well as for information on sharing your maritime photographs here. Marifact is a living data source, so each and every contribution makes it better and more useful for everyone.

Are you a researcher?
Mindful of the difficulties that academic researchers and institutions may face while obtaining and assessing historical information, we work actively with them to create lasting partnerships that give direct access to our large and varied maritime data sets.

If you would like to know more about our work with academia, or to request academic access, then please contact us through the feedback form on this site.

Mind the gaps
Marifact is very much a work in progress, that means some features may not work as you would wish and others may not work at all. We are doing our best to grow, evolve and improve what we provide and how we provide it. Your patience during this period of continuing turbulence is much appreciated, just fasten your seatbelt and we will soon be on the other side!
